BUSH THREATENS STALEMATE WITH CONGRESS

So, King George has given us and Congress his little welcome letter telling the American people and Congress what he expects. See, it's full of his same old out-of-touch-with-reality comments, including his classics, No Child Left Behind is working, we're safer now thanks to invading Iraq and Afghanistan and that Bush knows what he is doing.

Sometimes I think he's trying to bury himself in the eyes of history.

All that aside, His Holy Subtle Tyrant does say one thing toward the end of the nauseating piece:

If the Congress chooses to pass bills that are simply political statements, they will have chosen stalemate. If a different approach is taken, the next two years can be fruitful ones for our nation. We can show the American people that Republicans and Democrats can come together to find ways to help make America a more secure, prosperous and hopeful society. And we will show our enemies that the open debate they believe is a fatal weakness is the great strength that has allowed democracies to flourish and succeed.

Gotta love that Orwellian stuff, don't you? In the last six years have you known Bush to openly debate anything with anyone? In the last six years have you seen Democrats and Republicans work together in anything but fear of Al Qaeda? My favorite part of the above quote is this: "If the Congress chooses to pass bills that are simply political statements, they will have chosen stalemate."

And who determines what bills are simply political statements?

Bush, of course.

Something tells me the criteria will be harsh and simplistic.

"Me no likey! Dat's political!"

Too bad no one gets to decide which of his choices on Iraq were simply profiteering statements.

It would be so easy to pick them out since every last one was for the sake of his wallet and the wallets of his pals.

I hope I'm not the only guy who hates this man.
