One of my goals for the Draw Every Day 2012 project is to get better at drawing in the anime-style. One sub-set of that style is chibi (small in Japanese) style. Initially, I figure it would be easier to draw this way, but the balance between "sucky" drawing and "cute" drawing is a fine line. I'm thinking that despite the simple lines and the basic shapes, there is a very specific structure to drawing these guys. I will have to learn more...
