Republican Sez Path to Disaster Ahead if Stimulus Bill Passes, Cute How He Tries, Isn't It?

As if the Republicans have ANY credibility with America left at all, some Republitard called Shelby has announced that the current stimulus bill will send us down "a road to financial disaster."

...as opposed to the last two bailout bills, passed under Republicans, that have led us to happyfunplayland with money trees and loli-pops for everyone!

Do these Republifools know how stupid they sound just opening their gobs?

These idiots have become the Jar-Jar Binks of modern political discourse--and, as with The Phantom Menace, all We, The People, can do is yell "SHUT UP!" at the screen because the Democrats are still too polite to just call their "opponents" in Washington what they are.

Sure, one of Obama's guys did call out the Shelby-Unit's comment, but, as you can see in the screencap above, he did it with such absurd politeness that it pretty much doesn't count.  Lawrence Summer said that the Republicans "don't seem to me in a strong position to lecture about the lessons of history,"

OOOOOO! WHAT A CUT!

OUCH.

Wait, the Democrats were riding that pony to war and economic disaster, too.  Where were they for the last eight years?

Once again, I return to my earlier point: the government doesn't really give a crap about We, The People .  The Dems are OK at pretending, but even they don't really care.  If they had cared, they would have stood up to the Bushites and done what the Constitution asks of them.

  1. Mr thepete, thanks for the opportunity to comment on the republicans scare tactics over the stimulus bill. Senator Shelby, how Republican of you to scare an already scared public. How on earth do you expect anyone to trust your ideas after what your party as done to the country? Isn't it enough damage and misery brought on by the republican's policies? Bush? Please! Go away and leave us alone.

  2. You know all the lawyer jokes we've been told for years? Well, I think they would be put to better use now if all reference to "lawyers" was changed to "republicans"..........

  3. Mr. Lawrence Summers.... apparently you are not aware that for the last two years it has been the Democrats who have "presided over this debacle". Who controls the House Mr. Summers? Who controls Senate Mr. Summers? Remember, the Democrats didn't take charge last month.... no it was several months ago and they have done nothing but add greed, more govenment, more entitlement and more indecision !!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Indeed, Steve! I hope you saw that I included the Dems in my criticism above. It's a two party system so both parties need to take responsibility for the mess the system makes.

  5. The republicans had no problem with the bailout Bushed pushed on taxpayers but now there is a big problem. Mccain says we need to spend money to stimulate the economy but not this way then what way? I am so tired of republicans whinning! It is all about them being bitter because they don't have the control they once had. Yes, for the past 2 years dems have controled the house but this crisis started way before then. Give me a break republicans!

  6. if the bill had money going to Iraq the republicans would vote for it but if it includes the middle class then they won't...Why not just give each tax payer 50 thousand and let them decide how to spend it ..At least we will get something for it and out of dept.

  7. yeah, sure, it's the republicans that have no credibility here. who was it again that pushed so hard [now, mind you, this is pre-bush] to create regulations for banks to give so many loans to people who were obviously financially unfit? and wait, wait...why are so many banks failing again?

now i'm definitely not saying i support everything [or anything] the repubs have done...but let's not be ridiculous.

  8. The Republican senators are voting NO on the stimulus because they don't want to load "future generations" with crushing national debt. A bit late for that, isn't it? Most of them, such as Shelby and Cornyn, voted Yes to stimulus bills - FOR BAGHDAD. But when it comes to America, they are voting no. Is it just me? Because I don't get that one.

And Hey - McCain - I have lost all respect for you. The President has reached out to Republicans in previously unheard-of measures, and the entire Republican House turned their backs on him. Time to forget "bipartisanship" and worry about getting the economy on track - which is what this bill is trying to do.

  9. The Birk Economic Recovery Plan

I’m against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I’m in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in
    a “We Deserve it Dividend”.

To make the math simple, let’s assume there are 200,000,000
    bona fide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman
and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a
    We Deserve It Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free.
So let’s assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.
That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.
A husband and wife have $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?
Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college - it’ll be there
Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car - create jobs
Invest in the market - capital drives growth
Pay for your parent’s medical insurance - health care improves
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks
who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company
that is cutting back. and of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we’re going to re-distribute wealth let’s really do it…instead of
trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( “vote buy” ) economic incentive that is being
proposed by one of our candidates for President.

If we’re going to do an $85 billion bailout, let’s bail out every
    adult U S Citizen 18+!

    As for AIG.

     Liquidate it.

     Sell off its parts.

Let American General go back to being American General.

     Sell off the real estate.

Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here’s my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn’t.

Sure it’s a crazy idea that can “never work.”

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion
We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington
    DC.

And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because
$25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Ahhh…I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

    Kindest personal regards,

    Birk

This was when Bush only wanted 85 Billion, had we done something like this back then. We woul'd not be in this situation today. This would change the lives of every one today. And turn around the economy right now. So why not invest in the people for change, and look at the money the govt. would save.

  10. I am a Repub who voted Democrat during election 2006 due to the GOP Spending. Since that time Reid and Pelosi increased the National Debt 22% before these bailouts. The defecit is up 600 % from 178 Billioin in Jan 2007 to 1.2 Trillion before the Stimulus. Where can I go now? You sheep are worried about Democrat vs Republican when both have sold America down the drain.

  11. Dennis, I'm pretty sure you didn't read my entire post--I bag on both the Repubs and the Dems for this. This is government's fault, but it's ridiculous for a Republican to stand up and claim the sky is falling when his party orchestrated the sky falling years ago.

As I said, above, it's a shame the Dems couldn't at least *try* to stop the sky from falling instead of just being spineless, their-own-job-protecting wimps.

  12. It sure is easy for repulicans to bitch about his bill because Those guys don't need the money because they are already stinking rich..all the republicans DO is bitch and whine.

  13. Sarah Palin, you're needed. You're constituents, the people of Alaska, need you. You can worry about what the rest of the country thinks about you and your half-baked statements later.

AIG - ugh! Don't even get me started on them.

  14. Doesn't the Republican's done enough damage to the country yet? They should stop bickering and help to pass the economic bill. It's time for them be on board with the President for a change, forget about the petty differences and do something noble for the people of the United States not for your own political gain. We are tired of your politics, it's not worth the money being paid to you. Let the people trust you again by doing something good for the American people for once.
