Technically any good? While the first film tried too hard, in my opinion, to be clever and hide the fact that it was ultimately just Romeo and Juliet with vampires and werewolves, this film tried nothing so complicated. The film is strictly about finding the source of both species of were-creatures and either ruling the world with them or destroying them, depending on which side you're on. Since the plot is so simple, it manages to screw up very little.
How did it leave me feeling? Fairly satisfied. The main thing that bugged me about the first film (aside from the fact that it was so poorly executed) was that Kate Beckinsale's costume was so poorly lit--thankfully, they seemed to take my advice and you can actually see her amazing body clad in black rubber. Think about it--you've got this hot chick in a skin-tight outfit--why bother if you can't see the outfit? Might as well have cast Kathy Bates as Selene (shudder!). Oh and Scott Speedman is topless for the ladies (or gay guys).
Final Rating? SAM (still not a great movie, it wasn't as bad as a lot of crappy vampire movies and is still quite fun and gorey, too.)
