Technically any good? It looks like a sequel to The Last Samurai and, with a white man directing, seems to have about as many qualifications to be a statement about growing up a Japanese geisha as Samurai did (in other words, none). I'm sure the acting will be great, but script? Story? Historical accuracy? I dout it.
How did it leave me feeling? Nervous. I'm a Japanophile, but I hate when Americans direct movies about Japan. Let the Japanese tell Japanese stories. How many movies will white men direct? A lot more than Japanese men will. I'll probably see this movie, but I don't expect it will be good.
Final Rating? RTV (I expect it to be worth even less than the price of a rental--although that poster is AWESOME)
