Well, today is January 20, 2005--the day that the Good King George will rub our blue-state-faces in the feces--I mean, "fact," that he "won" another "election."
Yes, I admit it, I think things were fixed in both 2000 and 2004. (If nothing else, don't you think it's a wee-bit suspicious that this suposedly great president wins two times in a row by the skin of his teeth?)
The point is, this guy is an evil, fucked-up war monger who doesn't care about human life, Iraqi, American or otherwise. SO, a bunch of us are going to gather at the corner of Westwood Blvd and LeConte in Westwood Village and march to the Federal Building. The march has been organized by LA.NotInOurName.Net. Once we get to the Federal Building, we'll be joining up with a protest at 6pm organized by AnswerLA.org. According to their website, we'll then march again through Westwood. Ron Kovic (the guy Tom Cruise played in the movie Born on the Fourth of July) as well as other speakers and a few musical performers.
COME ON AND JOIN US!! I'll be there with my camera shooting all of the fun. With a little luck, tanks will be there like there were back in November of 2004! (Don't worry, no one was hurt!)
If you happen to not live in the LA area, please consider checking out a list of other "Anti-Inaugural" protest events around the US and picking one to actually attend. If you don't want to do that, at least watch the coverage of the the day's events on C-SPAN and pay special attention to how over the top everything is. Multiple parties, a parade with floats, and of course the "inauguration" of a supposedly sitting president. Have other second-termers bothered with a second inauguration ceremony? I don't know--regardless, all of the hoopla is clearly Bush trying to convince the American people, the world (and perhaps even himself) that he does have a mandate. If you don't have cable, check out C-SPAN.org to watch live video streams all day.
Please pay attention today--this is Planet America and the guy in the White House effects the entire world whether we all want to admit it or not.
Thanks for reading and I hope to have some footage of the event up by the end of the day.
