Citing a need for domestic energy, the government plans to open for exploratory drilling thousands of acres on Alaska's North Slope that have been protected for decades because of migratory birds and caribou.
The Bureau of Land Management has concluded that oil and gas exploration in the northeastern corner of the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska can be conducted with "minimal impact" on the area's wildlife.
Doesn't anyone remember how Bush said he would spend all this money on hydrogen powered cars? Did that money ever get spent?
It's like all of the amazing different sources for alternative energy aren't even being thought about anymore. The Repubs are in charge and all of these other ways to power different aspects of our lives are ignored.
Sure, there's no ONE source that can replace oil--but there are quite a few that are likely to help reduce the pressure on oil. Does anyone want to explore them? OF COURSE NOT!
This is because the USGov is blind to anything but it's corporate donors who are stagnant, close minded and scared shitless of a world where we aren't just a bunch of oil slaves.
THE EARTH IS RUNNING OUT OF OIL.
