CHENEY DOESN'T KNOW THE 'NET

The Drudge Retort had a great story on their site today. Last night during the big VP debate, Dick Cheney urged viewers to check out a website called "FactCheck.Com" to find proof of some claim or another he was making. Well, check out the headline you see when you go to FactCheck.Com (at the time of this posting, anyway):

President Bush is endangering our safety, hurting our vital interests, and undermining American values

OOPS! It turns out that whomever owns the domain name "FactCheck.Com" has pointed it at GeorgeSoros.Com--George Soros happens to be one of the Republican party's biggest enemies in the world. Soros spends wads and wads of cash to counter the Republicans every move. The added irony is that, according to a statement on the Soros site, the people who run GeorgeSoros.Com don't even own the domain name "FactCheck.Com" and have no idea how or why it has been pointed at their domain or who did it.

A quick search of the WHOIS database uncovers the following:

WHOA!! The Cayman Islands?? That means it's an offshore "front" for a company/person that is probably in the US but wants to be untouchable. HOWEVER, a quick visit to the NameAdminInc.Com website and you almost think it might be a legit group--until you happen to notice that they don't talk about prices anywhere on the site. There's a single link on the site for a contact page. You go there and it's just a form. No actual email address is listed. Very unusual for an "average" web hosting company. They do have an admin address on their WHOIS record, but I bet that's just a dead end. Who ever pointed that domain at the Soros site, I'd like to say THANKS!!

Daily Kos suggests the evil cyborg from the future--I mean, Cheney, meant to refer people to FactCheck.Org, which Kos says is a nonpartisan site that also happened to have a headline that was not polite to Bush:

Damn! It's just not the Bush 43 Admin's month! Too bad for them that just 2 days after the end of this month is the election! :D
