BUSH: KILLING IRAQIS, USGIs OK, KILLING UNBORN BABIES, NUH-UH.

I'm not calling these guys the anti-abortion movement any more because they're more about taking away freedoms than simply preventing an act that they feel is wrong. Here's a clip from said article:

President Bush told abortion opponents Monday that they are pursuing "a noble cause" and predicted that their views would prevail eventually.

"We're working to persuade more of our fellow Americans of the rightness of our cause," the president told abortion foes gathered at the foot of Capitol Hill on a chilly, rainy day. He spoke by telephone from Manhattan, Kan., where he gave a speech.

"This is a cause that appeals to the conscience of our citizens and is rooted in America's deepest principles," the president said. "And history tells us that with such a cause we will prevail."

Hooooly crap. So, stopping abortion is "noble" and so is continuing to bomb the crap out of Iraq, killing thousands more Iraqis and seeing hundreds more American GIs get killed or wounded. Stop killing unborn babies--but full grown humans? That rocks!

Let me get more specific. The ultimate point here is that it's the ultimate in hypocrisy to say it's wrong to kill unborn babies but just fine to kill Iraqi civilians and put USGIs in front of pissed off Iraqis who will kill them.

So, here's another boiling down of it:

1) Killing babies that were conceived by accident, rape or that threaten the health of the mother.

2) Killing Iraqi civilians because our smart bombs aren't that smart and killing US soldiers because they were put in a country that doesn't really want them there.

For some reason #2 is OK, but #1 is not. It seems to be that if one is reasonable so should the other and vice versa.

Personally, I don't like killing of any kind, so I'm against abortions AND killing Iraqis and USGIs. But to allow one and not the other? Seems like bullshit, ta me.
